Great North Sea Plunge by Nicola Marshall and Sandra Moran 2010

Great North Sea Plunge by Nicola Marshall and Sandra MoranThis event will take place at the Festival of Bathing Beauties in Mablethorpe at 2.00 pm on Saturday 18th September.

Nicola Marshall and Sandra Moran start the swim with the launch of our very own Mablethorpe Mermaid in the RNLI lifeboat. A celebrity personality will then blow the whistle as a signal for us to plunge into the water. Nicola Marshall and Sandra Moran want as many people as possible to get in the waves to paddle, splash about, swim and generally have fun and enjoy the experience of swimming in the sea. Remember the sea is at its warmest in September. Also, Mabo is an award-winning blue flag beach so let's celebrate that.

Great North Sea Plunge by Nicola Marshall and Sandra MoranFor the keen swimmers (or those who just have less sense than most) there is the chance to join up with others in a team to start your 'Swim a Mile for the RNLI' challenge. This is a national endeavour to raise money for the RNLI and it seemed a perfect opportunity to incorporate this into our event. The RNLI lifeguards will be on patrol for our event. Nicola Marshall and Sandra Moran will mark out a mile in the water for those keen and strong enough to swim the distance - of course you may want to swim part of the mile only.
