Hi, was at Mablethorpe all weekend for the bathing beauties festival with my mum and 9 month old son. Had a great weekend but it could have been better. I'd like to know who won the competition for best decorated beach hut? We had a walk on Sat morn to have a look and could only see 2 huts that had entered, up near the coral cafe. Did anyone enter from the huts along sutton on sea? Also what happened to the longest linear dance parade down the promenade? Only 1 dance troup turned up! What a shame more people didn't make an effort and why is the festival so late on in the year, it would attract more people if it was in the middle of the summer holiday, surely?
Anyone else feel the same?

Hi carla
Thanks for your e-mail it is always helpful to get some feedback and i am pleased you and your family enjoyed the Bathing Beauties Festival.
We had over twenty entries for the beautiful beach hut competition but only three entered from south prom mablethorpe the rest were at trusthorpe, sutton and sandilands.  The winners were announced under the star of the east on mablethorpe prom. It was listed  in the brochure and poster in the festival schedule page and we gave out  plaques to the winners. The leader is going to do a large feature with photographs next week and they are going to be posted on the website.
We had four entries for the longest dance, line dancers, belly dancers, ballet dancers and the the gymnastic dancers the idea was to start at both Sandilands  and meet up at sutton on sea we only managed to cover one and a half miles of the five miles we hoped to cover but it was our first attempt so hopefully we will achieve the full distance next year.
We have the festival in September to try and extend the tourism season and give the town a bit of a boost when usually everything is winding down.
The festival is organised and run by the tourism forum all of whom are volunteers, we work really hard to secure funding to run the event each yearand this is only its third year so we are still learning and know that we can improve it and we will do.
Many thanks again for your comments and I hope I have gone some way to answering your questions.
Best wishes Helen - Festival organiser (Wednesday, September 23, 2009)

Thanks for your reply, it's a shame we missed the rest of the beach huts, i meant enter ours next year! I will look forward to seeing the pictures on the website. It was a lovely weekend, my son really enjoyed playing the drums in the music workshop on trusthorpe green!
